Govt's power play to curb shortage, warns states against selling unused power

Oct 12, 2021 09:31 IST | By Editorji News Desk

The government has sprung into action to reduce the strain felt by states due to the ongoing coal supply concerns. The govt on Tuesday issued notice directing states to reallocate unused powers to needy states .

Power Ministry has also instructed  NTPC & DVC to secure power supply to Delhi that is facing shortage during peak hours. In response to CM Kejriwal's allegation that the Centre was holding back coal, power ministry said they will ensure that Delhi's distribution companies will get as much power as requisitioned by them as per demand.

The government also sent out a stern warning to states as it issued a notice saying, "if any State is found selling power in power exchange or not scheduling this unallocated power, their unallocated power may be temporarily reduced or withdrawn."
