Meet 6-year old Indian-origin climate warrior who has won UK PM award

Oct 08, 2021 08:29 IST | By Editorji News Desk

A six year old Indian origin girl named Aleesha Gadhia has won British PM Boris Johnson's Points of Light award for her campaigns on deforestation and climate change.

Aleesha has earlier received support from environmentalist Sir David Attenborough and Queen Elizabeth II and has encouraged top UK companies to take climate action.

The young girl, who hails from Nottinghamshire, has so far raised more than £3,000 for 'Cool Earth', a UK-based non-profit, which works with rainforest communities to cease deforestation and lobbies businesses to generate more sustainable practices.

Upon winning the award, Gadhia said that she feels really excited and happy to have won the award.

However, this is not the first time that Gadhia has been in the spotlight. Earlier this year, she took up a challenge and rode 80km on her scooter to raise money for Cool Earth.
