Nawazuddin Siddiqui says Bollywood actually has a racism problem, more than nepotism

Oct 12, 2021 18:14 IST | By Editorji News Desk

Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who recently bagged an International Emmy nomination for his performance in Sudhir Mishra’s film ‘Serious Men’, feels that more than nepotism, the Bollywood has a racism problem.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the 47-year-old actor opened up, saying he himself fought racism in the industry for years, and has been rejected just because he does not fit a certain mould, as expected from a Bollywood star.

Nawaz added that the issue is not even entirely about skin colour, he said there is a bias that exists in the industry which needs to end, for better films to be made. He added, he hopes that dark-skinned actresses are cast as heroines.
