Here are the Top 5 stories of the week:

• Geneva emerges as world’s most expensive city for construction.

According to a report by Netherland’s based consultancy firm Arcadis, the report stated Geneva as the most expensive city for construction. Last year, London topped the same list. This year the Top 5 cities were all European. Lack of American cities within the list could be as a result of the declining value of the dollar. The reports also mentioned about construction business being the best among all during the covid-19 pandemic.

• Mumbai Eastern Waterfront: Issues in port redevelopment plan.

The designer who prepared the masterplan for the Mumbai port had earlier designed a riverfront in Ahmedabad. In an exclusive article, strategic planner Ashish Puntambekar, Had also argued upon why this waterfront project must be termed a Project of National Importance.

• Maharashtra discom opens tender for 500 MW wind-solar hybrid projects.

Certain eligibility criteria been set by MSEDCL for the same. The last date to submit the bids is June 8,2021.

• Blackstone buys Embassy Industrial Parks from Warburg Pincus.

Embassy Group told the media that company aims to consolidate its resources towards the growth of its core business of office and residential development and management. After the merger of assets of these two companies, Embassy Group will gain a jump of 31% of stake in Mumbai- based IBREL.

• Pune Metro Rail Project: India signs contract with EIB for second tranche.

The project aims to provide an efficient, safe, economic and pollution-free Mass Rapid Transit System in densely populated areas in the city of Pune. The implementing agency for this project is Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MMRCL), also known as Maha Metro.
